Pushkar Tours

11km. north-eest of Ajmer , is the Pushkar Shrine . The Nag Hills divide Ajmer and pushkar. It is an ancient and historical city. The city is considered by Hindus to be one of the most sacred places in India.

The 52 bathing Ghats- that surround the Pushkar Lake are belived to have special power e. g . , 'Naga Kund' for fertility, ' Roop Tirth' for beauty and 'Kapil Vyapi Kund' for cursing leprosy. There are mor then 500 other temples and equal number of Dharamshalas. Brahma's temple is biggest temple of Pushkar.

Tourist Attractions in Pushkar

Pushkar Fair - Every year during Kartik Purnima (Ovt.-Nov.) a 10 day glittering fair is held, where horses, Camels and other animals are sold. You can also buy articles, made of camel skin. Brahmaji Mandir temple: is located at the west of the Puskhar lake. The temple has an image of Brahma who according to legend threw a lotus flower to earth formed 3 lakes where the petals landed.

Kishangash - 27 km away from Ajmer, this small town was the capital of a princely State ruled by the Rathors. It is famous for Gundelao Lake, Phool Mahal Palace, Fort Krishna Temple, Majhela Palace & the paintings of the Kishangarh School of Art.

Brahma Temple -The only standing Hindu temple in India devoted to Lord Brahma, the maker of the universe, the structure around the temple was built in the 14th century and stands on a high platform near Pushkar lake. The Brahma temple is an main pilgrim centre for the Hindus. Brahma is one of the Holy Trinity in Hinduism, sharing the honour with Vishnu the Preserver and Shiva the Destroyer. Although a very huge number of temples can be found all over India dedicated to Shiva and Vishnu, there are very few temples for Brahma, this being one of the holiest one.
